Why are Weather Watcher system tray icons so small and ugly?

Yes, but I have a beautiful soul

 Iā€™ve heard that about you.

:-s Obviously youā€™re not using the latest unreleased build. You can see font options.

Nope ā€“ I have the latest development build  Iā€™ll be posting a new WW build in about 20 minutesā€¦

Actually, I totally forgot this problem, but I too, in the last couple of builds, lost all ability to change my font in WW in Vistaā€¦

Actually, I have the same issue in XP SP2

I did the same thing as MKairys, going through all the fonts on my computer. My choices were also limited by the fact that I like to have the degree symbol displayed and a background color. Some of the fonts looked good, but forced the symbol out of the frame. I ended up using Arial Narrow size 9. Even that isnā€™t quite as sharp and clear as I would like. (Well, I probably do need new contacts, too, though  ) Some different options for the icon would defintely be sweet!

Terminal size 10 is pretty clear, thatā€™s what I use.

For you, maybe

Oh well, Worth a try :dontknow:

FWIW On my XP nb Arial, 11, bold works for me.

Hereā€™s what Arial, bold and normal, looks like for me:

Try MS PGothic 10 normal.

Yes, that is one of the better ones (and believe me, Iā€™ve tried them all)

Notice however how the curves of the 2 and 3 are distorted, and the tail of the 7 isnā€™t straight. Compare this to the text to the left, which is a custom clock (Daveā€™s Quick Search Deskbar actually) which is using Calibri.

I still wonder, as I asked originally, what the problem here is. Why do these fonts look bad when WW is displaying them, whereas other apps have no problem?

Strange, this is how mine look:-

Running Vista.

(White is WWL, Yellow is WW)

:???: Mike, can you explain this?

FWIW WW has had problems with the tray icon fonts for years. Note the dates on this thread:
http://www.singerscreations.com/forum/v ā€¦ php?p=7484
No one has ever been able to isolate the problem.

I have found that Simsun 11 pt bold faced looks really good, making the background transparent, of courseā€¦

Yes, I like that one John, very clear.

My best guess is that itā€™s system-related. That is pretty much evident since this is not an issue that affects everyone.

Iā€™m going to try some other methods to display the temperature in the system tray. Stay tuned to this thread for more information.

Thank you for the info. you seem to be a nice guy.
