SingerCreations.com is connected to http://Landing.DomainSponser.com which in turn brings up http://www.Information.com which is registered to DOTSTER, INC (http://www.dotster.com) which can be reached at

Http://oversee.net/domainsponsor.html tells you a lot about what they do. Note especially the http://oversee.net/images/graphic_dsscreenshot2.gif image.

Most of the links on http://SingerCreations.com go thru http://searchportal.information.com and one link takes you to an Amsterdam webpage where there are several .nl links. So, maybe the person who set up the site is in Amsterdam which means he’s outside US control.

I’d suggest contacting Information.com and see if they will shut the site down voluntarily. Although based on the oversee.net page above I doubt they will. You may need a lawyer to write them a letter. Once/if the name becomes free I suggest you register it and any and all other variations. weatherwatcher.com, singerscreation.com, singersweatherwatcher.com, adsense.com, etc.

Remember, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And apparently someone thinks your site is popular enough that making a knock off would make money for them.

Maybe the owner of the knockoff site is Dude. :evil:

EdP, that’s about as far as I made it with all of this too. The problem is tha lawyers cost money, and writing free software would not pay that fee [:)]

I know I could write a letter, but they will probably just toss it since I don’t have a lwayer backing me. I’m wondering if there is a central place to go on the Internet to shut down sites like this. It would be really nice if I could find a Weather Watcher user who is a lawyer and wouldn’t mind donating a few hours [8D]

To have a lawyer simply write a letter wouldn’t cost that much. I’m not suggesting retaining one, just to do the one time task.

However, I like your idea a lot! Certainly there must be one out there that uses Weather Watcher. [:)] Is Singer’s Creation copywrited?

No.

A stronger case if it was.

My Marketing Skills Suck

Without knowing what the client’s original email said it’s hard to judge what his concern is. I suspect he noted a problem, or at least intended to, and he perceived your response as ignoring it.

Can you post his original email?</font id=“size2”>

You need to put up a sound of a heavy metal door lacking so your new client will feel right at home. He’s obviously in a locked ward somewhere.

Key Logger Found in Weather Watcher

Even if Norton or McAfee found the keylogger they would just as wrong and the ones in need of updating their product. Most reputable sw vendors try to keep their products accurate, so you should contact Computer Associates and inform them of their error so they can update PestPatrol.

Update:</font id=“red”>

I just ran a scan of my pc using PestPatrol’s online scanner and it did not find anything associated with any of the versions of Weather Watcher I have on my hard drive of which there are several.

Hah… I doubt the employees actually work 24-7. I would hope not anyhow.

Hey, I'm just repeating what you posted. But maybe that's just the chefs' schedules. [:D] Besides, programmers work from home, right?

I wish.

I think Guillaume’s location might have openings. Check out http://www.gdargaud.net/

He likes coding freeware sw also. And he has a good eye for photography. You two should get along great together.

Nice looking set of wheels but they won’t last long if you don’t learn to park between the lines. [:D]

Hah... I wish the donations could cover that [:)]

I don’t have to worry about parking in between the lines. I only park in places no cars ever venture to [:D]

New Domain Name

New Domain Name

I plan to include the following content:

* Weather Watcher downloads

* Online help manual

* Weather Watcher FAQs

* Skins created by me or the Weather Watcher community

How about adding the FORUMS!!!

And better response times.

And a final release of 5.6. :icon_smile: :wink:

What’s gonna happen to SingersCreations.com? Landing.DomainSponser.com might be interested in acquiring it. :razz:

And WHY are you doing this?

Originally posted by EdPHow about adding the FORUMS!!!
I could, but I kind of like them all in one place. It's a support forum... software support for any of my software [:)] I would like to try out a different forum though. This one uses an Access database [:(]

Hmm... Can you go into detail on this one?

The story of my life [:)] We are getting very close now. I am working on the new default skin right now. To answer your next question, I will let some people test it before I release it [:)]

It will still be here. I am just making a site for Weather Watcher so I can put everything in one place.

Originally posted by EdPAnd WHY are you doing this?
Why not? The main reason is because Weather Watcher is kind of buried on SingersCreations.com, so I want to make it easier to find it and access the skins, help manual, support, etc.

These statements are contradictory. In two you say you want everything together then say you want to keep the forums separate. A big part of Weather Watcher is obviously it's support which is Forum based. If you want all of Weather Watcher together... [:)]

Response times for the forums. Laterly access has been horrible. Measured in minutes!! Sometimes the link times out all together. If the WW forum was split off from the other support forums maybe response times would improve. (btw today, not so bad.)

Ed</font id=“blue”></font id=“size2”>

I need to find a new forum. I think this one is slow because it uses an Access database. I need something that uses ASP/ASP.NET and SQL.

Names Don’t Come Easy

Names Don’t Come Easy

I think if you’re going to release 5.6 this weekend you need to address the forum access problems. I have a hi-speed connection and it still takes a minute to pull up.

As for skin names, why not post the ones you have come up with and have a poll/vote here for us to choose the one we like. Of course that presumes you resolve the access problem. :wink:
