WW in corporate LAN (proxy problem)

Hi,

I use WW at home and wanted to use it at work too. Here at work I connect to the Internet through a proxy server. Proxy settings in the IE are correct and working for all programs that use these settings. But WW cannot connect to the Internet.

Since there is no possibility to specify a proxy address in WW directly, I suppose WW uses the IE settings. I added user credentials at the Internet tab of WW in the form

domain\user
password

However, WW still cannot connect to the Internet. Can anybody help me?

Steve

Did you try the following Weather Watcher build yet?

Hi Mike,

yes, I have tried this build. But still WW cannot connect to the Internet.

Steve

I tried different things and watched the connections from my machine to the proxy with netstat. Apparently there is no outgoing connection when I update WW. To me it seems that WW is completely ignoring the IE proxy settings and tries to connect directly to the Internet which of course will not work.

Is there a way to hard-code the proxy address into WW by means of a config file or something similar?

Steve

No.

Other than the proxy, are you sure something on your computer is not blocking Weather Watcher from accessing the Internet?

Yes, I am absolutely sure, because there is no firewall or something similar on my workstation. All programs can access the Internet as long as they use the proxy what WW apparently does not do (at least if I trust netstat).

Steve

Try the following GetFile.exe update. Download it into your Weather Watcher program folder.

Hi Mike,

the new GetFile.exe did the job. WW now connects to the Internet through our proxy server. Thanks for your help.
