Wind Rose reversed 180*

Any idea why?

Using Firefox 17.0.1
kde 4.9.2
WWL 1.0.17

Same issue in Forecast Fox if that helps.

Please post a screenshot so I can see what you’re describing.

Wind is currently nnw showing nne on WWL others per the image attached.

Last night (pre-frontal passage) WWL showed due North while it was actually due South.

I don’t see WWL in your screenshot. Can you post a screenshot showing the issue in WWL?

Sorry not now as it’s behaving.
Noticed 73301 is the zip this site polls for weather.
That’s new to this area and may be throwing off
the data collection. We typically use 787 for Austin,tx.

As an aside Customizable Weather Plasmoid (CWP)
Has an option to flip the windrose 180*. That makes
me think it’s a problem within Linux/KDE.
Any idea?

Or perhaps you’re comparing old data to real time data, or you’re comparing weather stations in two different places where the wind is blowing from a different direction. I would expect variations by weather station, but not completely opposite wind directions.

I’m using Camp Mabry / Austin city for all but you’re correct in that
it’s not reliably auto updating.

Camp Mabry is an NWS weather station. NWS does not update their current conditions often, so they are almost always outdated. When searching for a weather station, choose one that displays “WeatherBug” under the “Data Source” column in the Station Search window. Most WeatherBug stations are collecting data in real time.

Makes perfect sense but Mabry is the most accurate
info for my area even if they’re slow to update.
What’s weird is different apps update with differing
reliability from the same source.
Is it possible they have different feeds for their data?
IE phone, Internet, Microwave-relay.
Thanks again.

Yes, it’s possible that various apps update their weather data at different times.

The St. Andrews Episcopal School and St. Paul Lutheran School weather stations are very close to the Camp Mabry weather station. Both are WeatherBug weather stations, so they are collecting weather data in real time. Either should give more accurate current conditions than the Camp Mabry weather station. All three should give you the same weather forecasts.
