VISTA skin

Hi redhotpaprika. I thought you might find this icon comparison tool useful.

Vista’s WWicons.html

I also see that RapidShare is now limiting free downloads to 10!!

I went through it and can say for sure that all Shiny icons correspond with it completely

Nothing to worry about, I saw that coming and changed the hosting source to the one with no limitations  Thanks for telling me though!

I thought I saw a couple of differences but I haven’t encountered them in my WW forecasts so they aren’t show stoppers.

:-s Oh! So you did. I think I will follow your lead with my next update. Thanks

I download the free Vista Skin and ran it but it doesn’t show up in the skins of the Weather Watcher like the display shown on the Vista Skin instructing to on how to set the settings for this skin.

Thanks for pointing this out!
I fixed the problem, now it should work OK, use this link to download the Vista Skin installer.
The download link in the first post was also updated.

Am a total newbie with Weather Watcher 6.0.1 on Vista SP1 Business.

Does this skin apply to V6.0.1?

I downloaded Vista.wws file and when I click on it to install it, nothing happens other than Windows states it does not know what to use for installing it. I have to assume I have totally overlooked something necessary for adding new skins.

The latest version of Weather Watcher is 5.6.41, I guess you are talking about Weather Watcher Live, it’s a different program and Vista skin doesn’t work with it.
You can download Weather Watcher here and then install the skin following the instructions in the first post.

Thanks much for the response.

Yes, I am using WWL 6.0.1. So I will stick with it and the default skin for the time being.

Thanks again.

New here, I have Vista, where can I download skins for Vista? Thank you.

Had to uninstall/reinstall due to internet connection not picking up and updating. Got more problems after reinstalling w/Vista skin. CANNOT get it to show in the “skins” folder under the options. Have tried 3 different times, and computer tells me it has been installed, but it isn’t there! Been using this skin for at least a year and the program doesn’t even look the same w/out it. Can someone give me a hand as to what the problem may be?

Skins can be installed in one of 3 locations. The Windows Profile folder, the WW install folder under either the Users\Default folder or the Userswindowsuserid folder.

Click on the WW Option’s Skins tab then the Open Skin Location button. Determine which folder is opened. Then either try reinstalling the Vista skin or UNzip the skin’s wws file and manually copy them to the active Skin’s folder.

The Skins folder location is determined by either a Miscellaneous setting on the Option’s General tab or exec parms when starting WW.

Gave it one more try and uninstall/reinstall. This time, installed skin BEFORE executing WW and it worked! Not gonna touch it now.

Well, it started doing the same thing yesterday. Will not auto update. Where can I download an older version? Will try that tactic. Already chose another standard skin and it still won’t update. Please post site to dl old version.

EDIT: Downloaded and installed version 5.6.16, got it from here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/deskt … fm/v5_6_16

Two shutdowns and two startups provided auto update w/no problems. This w/the Vista skin installed and active. We’ll see how it goes…

Obviously your problem is not related to the skin you’re using. That being the case you should start a new thread in the WW Support forum.

For older WW versions see this forum: viewforum.php?f=40

Thank you. Will post problem and solution in the ww forum. This is a new day and new boot, all is well and auto updating as expected.

Problem:
For some stations, the current conditions window looks like this:

The tooltip works ok for the Barometer section.

Hmm… I just checked with the Classic skin.

The problem seems general, probably some data is missing.
Nevertheless, can anybody check if something can be done in the skin itself not to look like this?

That may be the Classic Interface Skin but it has no bearing on the Forecast Skin which is still set to the Vista one. Change the Forecast Skin to Splendid, do an update and post what you see.

BTW I see the same as you with your location and the Vista Forecast skin but the Splendid Forecast skin is ok.

cristianhaulica,
Thanks for the input. I was able to reproduce this problem and am working on it. I’ll post here when I’m done.

My mistake
Classic Interface Skin and Splendid Forecast Skin looks ok to me too.

redhotpaprika, love this skin. im a long time user but just recently decided to mess around with skins.

im trying to use icon sets other than the ones you provide with your Vista skin and i have learned that your skin works best with png files. i would like to use other sets made in gif and animated gif icon sets but i get an image display error on the “Daily” tab on the 1st image when temperature and condition is N/A.

this is what it looks like
http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/2552/dailyimageerror.th.jpg
this is your Vista skin with the MetroConsult icons posted by contraptionmaker in this thread HERE
downloaded from http://www.contraptionmaker.info/MetroConsult.zip but i get this error with the default Bay Area icon set or any set using gif.

how can i fix this, is there an html file i can edit, so that the gif display properly like the rest? why does just that one not work. Can you help me please?
