This error occurs every 5 minutes or so:
GetFile.exe - Application Error
The instruction at “0x101d02237” referenced memory at “0x0100a1dc”. The memory could not be “written”.
WW keeps on running, but the same error recurs. I also get the following debug dialog:
Weather Watcher Downloader has encountered a problem.
Error signature
AppName: getfile.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.0 Modname: msvbvm60.dll
ModVer: 6.0.97.82 Offset: 00e3b8a
Well there are a few million WW users who don’t have the problem you are experiencing which implies there is something unique to your system, especially one where
which implies a machine cooling problem.
Without knowing what makes your system unique debugging is impossible.
angelwolf71885, I don’t recall saying there isn’t a problem. I do realize that everyone’s Windows install is a little different, so it’s quite possible that Weather Watcher will act differently when installed on different computers.
It would be helpful if you would answer the following questions:
1) Which version of Windows are you using?
2) When is the last time you installed Windows updates?
3) Do you see the same “GetFile.exe” error message that Discloop posted above?
4) Do you ever see the “GetFile.exe” error message when you manually update the weather by clicking the “UPDATE” button on the main Weather Watcher window?
5) Are you using the Weather Watcher wallpaper feature?
6) As EdP pointed out, “GetFile.exe” was not part of the Weather Watcher install in May 2006. That said, please give me some more information about the issues you’ve been experiencing between then and now. It would be most helpful if you would be as detailed as possible when describing any issues. If you have any screenshots of error messages, then please post them here.
All anyone running the app has to do is RIGHT click on the tray’s icon for links to the website so I think you’re wrong about the number of people that know. The percentage of those that visit is probably correct because few people have problems with WW
prove other wise the quit saying there isent a problome
Unless you provide details of your system; RAM, processor, OS, AV, AS, FW, apps, utilities, games and etc debugging your problem is impossible.
Oh, and don’t forget specifying where you are in applying Windows’ Updates.
Complaining without providing the information neccessary to help won’t accomplish much.
The errors no longer occur on my PC. The Windows s/w seems up-to-date. Perhaps the problem was due to an interaction with other apps. I have WW 5.6.25 installed on 2 other machines with no problem.
I’ll post more info if I learn something new, but am happy with WW again.
