Tray Tooltip Causes Open WW To Change Focus

Inconsistency usually indicates;

memory corruption
logic error (A assumes B when that is not the case)
nightmare to debug

Is there anything I can do here to assist in the debugging and/or
creating steps to replicate with consistancy?

For me it seems to happen 100% of the time.

Other than OS, what other variable have you found often affect the performance of WW?
Perhaps the WW options?

Can any other users replicate this bug?

Skinned Tooltip steals focus

I just installed Weather Watcher v5.6.21.
I was playing with the new Minimize to Taskbar option
and noticed that WW steals focus even when the main WW is NOT open.

Hover over the icon in the System Tray, when the Tooltip appears, notice that the title bar on the
active window goes from blue to grey (the colors may differ from user to user depending on their selected color scheme). Other Tooltips do not behave in this manner.

Also, I’ve discovered that focus is stolen only when using the skinned version of the Tooltip.
The text-only version does NOT affect focus.

When the mouse pointer is moved off the WW icon the focus returns to the previous open window.

Just another example of WW’s unique charm. Other tooltips don’t have skins either.

Yes, that is correct, it does.

True. And I do like the skinned Tooltip.
So if a change in focus is what I need to deal with in order to get the skin … I CAN live with that.
But just wanted to give you the heads up on this behavior because if it can be avoided, it’s not ideal.

One man’s bug is another’s “undocumented feature.”

I actually like this behavior. I have my options set that a single click on the tray icon opens the main Weather Watcher window. I’ve found that when I reach for the system tray icon, I really don’t want to see the tooltip, I really want to open the big window because it has so much more information on it.

Now if the window is already open in the background, I get what I want w/o actually having to click the tray icon. Plus, I don’t have to click back to my previous window when I’m done looking at Weather Watcher. Very convenient!

While I can live with whatever Mike decides to do, if I had my preference, I really don’t want to see this “fixed.”
