Severe Alerts "(ALL TIME REFERENCES ARE IN CDT)"

  1. Version of Weather Watcher
    5.6.45

  2. Detailed description of the bug
When a severe weather alert arrives, WW plays a sound and pops up a tool tip showing the beginning of the alert: “(ALL TIME REFERENCES ARE IN CDT)”. When I look at the full alert by right-clicking the systray icon and selecting “View Severe Alerts” I do not see anything resembling a weather alert. Instead, I see only this text in a window with the title “Severe Alerts - Weather Watcher”:

[code]GREENE- INCLUDING THE CITY OF…SPRINGFIELD 419 AM CDT SUN MAR 15 2009

(ALL TIME REFERENCES ARE IN CDT)

  1. Any error messages (word-for-word)
    NONE

  2. Steps to reproduce the problem (if possible)
Set “Springfield, MO” as your default city (SGF), and wait for a severe weather alert. I have received no readable Severe Weather Alerts since upgrading to v5.6.45.

Thank you,

I can confirm that. 5.6.45, Windows XP SP3, IE 6, time seen: 8:19pm, Alert Window alert tab is blank.

But no alert indicated at http://www.weather.com/outlook/homeandg … l/USMO0828 . I think weather.com has a problem.

Thanks Ed. Yes, I am also using XP SP2 with MSIE 6 on one machine, and XP SP3 witih MSIE 7 on another.

Weather.com is apparently testing something new in your area. And at this point WW is getting caught in it.

[code]-

I’m another Greene County resident (65806) getting those same alerts each day. Its interesting that they’re trying an experimental feature for us. If I have WW ignore sever alerts with “EXPERIMENTAL” in them will it catch that since that word doesn’t appear in the popup?

wwarren, you can only filter out alerts using words/phrases that appear in the alert that is displayed within Weather Watcher. Try adding a filter for the phrase “(ALL TIME REFERENCES ARE IN CDT)”.

Thanks Ed and Mike. The filter is doing the job. No more Severe Alerts with “(ALL TIME REFERENCES ARE IN CDT)” in them.

Mike, the one drawback to filtering this alert is that the Alert Sound is still played when this alert is encountered: “(ALL TIME REFERENCES ARE IN CDT)”. However, the balloon message no longer pops up. My wife asked me to disable to Alert Sound on her computer, which makes the Alert functionality useful to her only if she is looking at her monitor.
