Run Time Error 5

I am getting a Run Time Error ‘5’: Invalid Procedure Call or Argument when I click on the temperature in the system tray to display the current data. When it brings up the program, the Weather Watcher box is white with no data on it. The error pops up, I click OK, and the program exits.

Once I reopen the program, it is usually okay for a while. Then it occurs again. It happens at random, it seems.

Thanks.

Which version of Weather Watcher?

I’m on v 5.6 Beta 3.

Thanks.

This just occured for me also, v5.6b8.
The little pop-up weather bubble appeared on my systray, so I clicked the temperature icon with the same result as BriLam.

I’ve gotten that same Runtime Error message too. The only time I have gotten it so far was after a Severe Weather Alert. When I click the tray icon, the program pops up blank and then when I click on anything, it gives the error, I push OK and the program closes. Just thought I’d let you know.

I’m seeing this as well, and have been for the past several versions (I’m using 5.6 beta 8 now). It occurred to me recently that this may be specific to a severe alert happening when WW hasn’t been opened at all since boot-up, but I haven’t had the opportunity yet to verify this.

The workaround I’ve found is to not click on the blank window, but rather minimize and then reopen - this always results in a non-blank window.

I have the same problem -- if you receive a severe weather balloon (on XP) clicking on that balloon will open WW however it will be blank. Clicking on anything will cause the runtime error. This happens even after a fresh reboot for me. Note: I'm using the Classic skin.

Fine print never contains good news.

I’ve found that clicking on the Update Weather, View Options and the X in the upper right hand corner are all safe options, ie WW doesn’t abort. They don’t resolve the blank WW window, they just don’t cause WW to shut down.

I noticed that using Beta 10 whenever I receive a sever weather alert, if I click on the into balloon tip (instead of closing it) then I get symptoms exactly as described in the beginning of this post. I will test and see if the options allow it to continue to work without shutting down.

John,

I think you meant

However
