Personalised wallpaper image on desktop?

Hello,

Great freeware, but how do I put an added weather map to the “wallpaper image” section, so that it can be shown on the desktop?

Thanks, Burton

Yes I know that, but if you read my posting carefully you will understand that I would like to view the map on the desktop, but under OPTIONS → WALLPAPER the added map is not listed - why ?!

What is the URL of the map you want to see in the “Wallpaper” tab of the Weather Watcher Options window? Also, which version of Windows are you using?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your quick response. One of the two URL’s is for example the following:
http://maps.fallingrain.com/perl/map.cgi?kind=illum&scale=-5&x=480&y=360&xcenter=3.1167&ycenter=39.8667&lat=39.8667&long=3.1167&name=Alcudia&c=

I am using Weather Watcher Live version 6.0.0.51

That URL does not link directly to an image file, which is why it cannot be used as wallpaper.

Pity, is there a work-around or will it be fixed in a future update?
Or is it simply not possible as an Active-x element or simple desktop image in XP?

I don’t know of any way to display anything but HTML and images on XP’s desktop. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do through software to modify that Windows feature.

Well I suppose that would have to be a programming script to grab the image every so many seconds from the server and save it as an image to refresh the wallpaper, but I unfortunately have no knowledge on how to do that neither. But I would have thought it to be possible.

Anyhow, thank you for your reply and for the time beeing I will have to accept that nothing can be done for the moment.
