How about something where you can enter your lat/lon and have weather watcher watch the National Lightning Detection Network for a strike within X-Radius AND Y-Times, and if it meets your criteria for “That was too damn close! [:0]” Triggers windows shutdown / PC power-down?
Also, incase that was missed, if a SVR-TSTM or TORNADO warning is issued for your area, shutoff could also be triggered?
This would make weather watcher a tool almost more important than Zone Alarm, or Spybot Search & Destroy, as it may prevent actual physical damage to your machine.
