Oh, ok. Valid points. We rarely get wind from that direction so it wasn’t obvious to me until you pointed it out.

Tell mom we said thanks.

Nor is it in the Splendid skin. Well at least we are all consistent.

And a most valid reason that is.

Great job, barba!

The only thing I wish we can change, but I know we can’t, is to do something about the moon images. The ones wwe currently have are fuzzy and it is hard to see the change in the phases. EdP uses real moon pics, but if we do that, it will mean making the window bigger and itis already big enough as it is.

I’ve had fun to see us work together on this project!

David

David

The skin will easily accommodate larger moon images. The existing TD width is more than adequate and if the description uses a smaller font the height is available also. I believe the weather.com moon images are 48x48 and if not try 52x52.

hth

I’m going to need some help about this. Like I said before, I know nothing about progrmming a skin other than copying lines from Stone Soup and into Marmol English. But I would love to get the moon images into it! And make a Marmol South for the phases of the Southern Hemisphere. Your script would work for this, wouldn’t it?

David

I DID IT!!!

Not only did I put the images into the skin, but I also created Marmol South, which show Southern Hemisphere moon phases!

David

You may have a typo. WIDTH=“63” HEIGHT=“53” Those images are square thus the two values should be equal. And their natural size is 55x55.

Good thing I updated Stone Soup’s code recently. The prior code had the moon’s images always coming from the Stone Soup forecast skin.

Now that you see how easy it is please don’t tell anyone. Many of the visitors here think we’re super smart.

BTW Now that you have a South skin you will need to adjust the wind compass to match. In the South the S is at the top of the dial and N at the bottom. (How these people keep from falling off the earth is beyond me. )

I fixed the moon image.

I know that compassess point north toward the magnetic South Pole, but I wonder if the people in metoerology use Northern Hemisphere lingo to places like the Weather Channel and AccuWeather so they have a standard.

David

Hard to say but if you speak Spanish what does this TWC page tell you?

[b]Radar del tiempo nacional y local, pronóstico diario, huracanes e información de The Weather Channel y weather.com

Here’s a webpage that answers the question:

http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasci/env99/env134.htm

The gist of it is that it my be off, but not enough for us to reverse the compass in Marmol English South.

David

I did a change to the Style.css file making the “view this forecast at weather.com” link a more visible color.

David

I don’t know, some people are very particular on how they want the wind displayed.

http://www.singerscreations.com/forum/v … php?t=1772

FYI It is not necessary to include the .html or thumbs.db files. WW creates the .html files and the end user’s Windows system the later. Doing so cuts your .zip from 888KB to 703KB

And if you use the WWSSkins.cmd script (in the Forecast folder) you can distribute it as a WWS file which the WW Wizard will install. Just edit the TYPE and SKIN parameters. (Of course it does assume you have WinZIP.)

 Talk about a “long-winded” topic.

@barba

The Wind’s background image has North America too dark. The Northern Hemisphere blends into the ocean on my desktop machine’s LCD monitor.

The Africian continent looks fine for NE winds now though.

How about something along these lines?

Barba,

I agree, the world image is too dark. Ficing it shouldn’t be a problem for you.

I e-mailed you with several versions of the skin. The latest copy is at

http://webpages.charter.net/david1970/MarmolEn.zip

About the only thing left that needs improving is the barometer. When you resize the window, it throws off the barometer display. I don’t know how to fix it myself.

It’s been lots of fun working on this project!

David

P.S. Check out my personal map file at http://webpages.charter.net/david1970/maps.zip
I just added some more links to it.

I just fixed the world image.

It was very easy, all I did was save Ed’s image to the Images folder.

The latest verison is at
http://webpages.charter.net/david1970/MarmolEn.zip

All we need to do is to get the barometer perfect.

David

Of course there are other options.

Ed,

Thanks for the other option, but the alternate world image makes a bad background. The dark globe is a lot more pretty. I also increased the font of the gauge number.

Check it out:

David

Ed and Barba,

I touched up Afirica to make it look more natural. It looks good!

Now the barometer is next.

I’m going to bed.

David

Try it with black or red digits for wind speed.
