Lately all frames are showing up empty, and the only menu choice showing any sub-choices is the MAPS button. However no selected maps appear - only empty frames. There are no red “x’s,” just white space. Plus, WW will not update. I can get into the options menus and they all appear to be normal. Any ideas?
Mike
Can you post a screenshot?
Are you able to pull up any website in IE?
What OS are you running? What version of WW are you running? What firewall, antivirus sw, antisspyware sw are you running?
I have the same problem with blank pages instead of maps…
Came here to ask for help and saw this thread.
Here is the screenshot.

I have Windows Vista x64, WW 5.6.24a and Norton Internet Security currently installed and running but everything worked fine maybe a month ago when I checked map viewer last time.
Can you guys help me with this too?
All maps, some maps, a particular map?
All maps.
“View maps in default web browser” option works flawlessly though.
:???:
My guess would be you have javascript disabled for IE.
Other possibilities are your firewall or av is preventing the WW map viewer from accessing the Internet. If you click on the wmp.html file in the WW folder what happens?
Actually IE isn’t my default browser, Opera is.
But either way I have javascript is enabled for both of them.
If I try to open wmp.html I get the same blank page regardless of the browser I use for this purpose…
ww.exe is among allowed programs, I’ve just checked my firewall settings.
Hmmmmm very strange. I was hoping viewing wmp.html directly in IE would show any error msg or prompt that might be being masked by WW opening the file.
Can you post the code in your wmp.html file?
FWIW WW.exe isn’t the program that accesses the 'net, DL.exe is. And WW.exe uses IE regardless of what the default browser.
OK, here is the code in my wmp.html :roll:

Looks like we found the problem…
What do I do now?
:shock: ??? :-s
What does your Map.wtp file look like?
Are you using an English version of WW? (Are there any other versions??) Is your pc’s Language set to English?
What you should be seeing is something like this:
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE></TITLE></HEAD><BODY STYLE="background:#FFFFFF; margin: 0px 0px 0px; overflow=hidden;" onResize='zoomMap();' onLoad='zoomMap();'><IMG NAME="map" SRC="http://image.weather.com/images/sat/caribsat_720x486.jpg"><script language=javascript>function zoomMap(){var WinHeight;var WinWidth;WinWidth = window.innerWidth;if (WinWidth==null) WinWidth=document.body.clientWidth; WinHeight=window.innerHeight; if (WinHeight==null) WinHeight=document.body.clientHeight; document.map.width=WinWidth; document.map.height=WinHeight;}</script></BODY></HTML>
In that both files are text based you can simply cut & paste them into a posting with Code tags wrapped around them. You don’t need to create an image to post.
In fact please post your wmp.html file that way. It may yield a clue.
Here is Map.wtp, it looks cut off, there is nothing else there but a bunch af empty lines.
[code] ??][/TEMPLATE][/DETAILED LOOP]";
day[2] = “[DETAILED LOOP COUNT=1 START=3][TEMPLATE][DETAILED DAY][/TEMPLATE][/DETAILED LOOP]”;
day[3] = “[DETAILED LOOP COUNT=1 START=4][TEMPLATE][DETAILED DAY][/TEMPLATE][/DETAILED LOOP]”;
day[4] = "[DETAILED LOOP COUNT=1 START=5][TEMPLATE][DETAILED DAY???
[/code]
Yes, I use the English version of WW and yes, my pc’s language is English as well.
I posted that screenshot instead the code because I thought you wouldn’t believe me if I just copied it here.
redhotpaprika, replace your Map.wtp code with the following code:
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE></TITLE></HEAD><BODY STYLE="background:#FFFFFF; margin: 0px 0px 0px; overflow=hidden;" onResize='' onLoad=''><IMG NAME="map" SRC="[MAP]"><script language=javascript>function zoomMap(){var WinHeight;var WinWidth;WinWidth = window.innerWidth;if (WinWidth==null) WinWidth=document.body.clientWidth; WinHeight=window.innerHeight; if (WinHeight==null) WinHeight=document.body.clientHeight; document.map.width=WinWidth; document.map.height=WinHeight;}</script></BODY></HTML>
Good grief!!
Your Maps.wtp is screwed up. Don’t know why, how or when. It looks like a part of a Forecast wtp file. wtp files are the templates from which the html files are created, in this case Maps.wtp is the template for wmp.html so if it’s corrupt it explains why your maps are also.
Rename your Maps.wtp file to be something like Maps.wtp.junk then take the following code and create a new Maps.wtp file.
Maps.wtp<HTML><HEAD><TITLE></TITLE></HEAD><BODY STYLE="background:#FFFFFF; margin: 0px 0px 0px; overflow=hidden;" onResize='zoomMap();' onLoad='zoomMap();'><IMG NAME="map" SRC="[MAP]"><script language=javascript>function zoomMap(){var WinHeight;var WinWidth;WinWidth = window.innerWidth;if (WinWidth==null) WinWidth=document.body.clientWidth; WinHeight=window.innerHeight; if (WinHeight==null) WinHeight=document.body.clientHeight; document.map.width=WinWidth; document.map.height=WinHeight;}</script></BODY></HTML>
As for the screwed up file; it could be the result of a bad WW download, it could be the result of a hw glitch or it could be the sign of a failing hd. The latter should be the cause for some level of concern.
Interesting. We cross posted.
The code I posted for the Maps.wtp file is from the 5.6.24a version. What version is your’s from??
EdP, I have Weather Watcher 5.6.24s installed. My Map.wtp file might not be from the install though.
I’ve just replaced the code in my Map.wtp and everything works fine now.
Thank you so much for your help, guys!
