How do I delete Map History entries? I entered an incorrect URL for a radar image. I fixed it but can’t delete the old entry.
What I do is manually edit the MapsHistory.ww file in the Weather Watcher folder. It’s a text file and can be opened with Notepad.
Ok Ed- I did as you said and deleted the entry in the Mapshistory.ww file but now Weather Watcher has no border when I open it. What did I do wrong? Here’s a screenshot-
Well, that is a little strange. Change to a different skin for the forecasts and the intereface. click Ok to close the options then repeat switching back to the original skins. See if that resets the display.
Deleting an entry in the history should not have that effect.
Well I got my border back by using any other Interface skin other than the Splendid skin which still won’t show any options or borders when I try to use it. It seems very strange how this happened by editing the maphistory.ww file. I’ve been having strange, unresolved problems with WW in the past but I will stick with it because, to me, it’s still the best out there.
This was my other problem:

(I’m using a different name now because I couldn’t remember my login info)
Within your \Weather Watcher\Skins\Interface\Splendid folder what is the date of the skin.ini file? And does it look like this?

Something to try, shutdown WW, and in the \Weather Watcher\Skins\Interface\Splendid folder rename the Trans.dat file to be Trans.old. Back up to the prior level and restart WW.
My skin.ini file is identical to the one you posted and the date is 10/16/2005. As for renaming the trans.dat file, well, it worked. The Splendid Interface skin is usable again and the border is back. Thanks Ed.
I think the trans.dat file is causing other skin-related problems too. I might try delete the trans.dat file when the skins are switched.
Mike- Could that have anything at all to do with my other problem
( http://www.singerscreations.com/Forum/v … php?t=1236 ) or is it completely unrelated?
I wouldn’t rule that out. That error is so random that I am not able to reproduce it.
Maybe as a normal part of the upgrade process.
It’s only a 1k file, what’s it’s purpose? What creates it?
It holds all of the calculations for the skin. If a skin uses those calculations, it can load faster because it doesn’t have to recalculate those values.
Interesting.
When is it created? I will assume it’s created by WW.exe. I will also assume it relates to the images/bmps that compose the skin. Thus if someone changes an image in the interface the trans.dat is out of sync? Or is it tied more to the skin.ini?
If it serves a useful purpose maybe finding a less technical fix for it when it gets corrupted would be more convenient. Not everyone who uses WW knows how to find and delete WW files. But if the uninstall/reinstall process would delete and reinstall the interface skins, or at least delete the trans.dat file, it would resolve the problem for a majority of the people who encounter it.
