Beta 10

  1. Tray icon has a label of Mostly Cloudy. Icon is #4. Current Conditions, both Tooltip and WW window, state Heavy T-Storm and Windy.

  2. Alerts. Same old, same old. If you hesitate to click on the Alert popup when you do you get a blank WW window.

The condition tray icon tooltip is not updating for some reason.

I tried everything to recreated this error. If I could recreate it, I'd be able to fix it.

It's updating but out of step. For example the Tray icon shows Cloudy, image #27, the Tooltip and Current Conditions say Mostly Cloudy and the icon label says Thunder, which is what we had earlier.

I understand.

What triggers the alerts? Are they sensed during a normal forecast update or is there a separate entity being tested? Can that entity be simulated?

From what I saw, it seems like it's only updating when Weather Watcher starts up.

The alerts pop up after the forecasts have been retrieved. I can simulate the severe alert by changing to a city that currently has an alert. The problem is that the error never pops up when I click the tray icon.

I could try using the same settins that you have? If you want me to give that a try, please e-mail and or post the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\Weather Watcher

hmmmmm You may be right. They were out of sync a moment ago, and I hadn't booted all that long ago, I recycled WW and now they are equal again.

!!! How do you know what city is experiencing an alert??? It's too bad you can't get WW to work with simulated input, that you create and can control.

So, if I miss an alert I can simply click on Retrieve Weather and it will re-popup? Interesting work around.

I was going to post my WW Registry key like you suggested but it’s 58KB!!! Holy crap!!! EVERYTHING is in the key including the kitchen sink!! As such I will Zip it and email it to you. Thanks. [:)]</font id=“size2”>

That appears to indeed be the case. Current Condition is Partly Cloudy, tray icon matches, tray icon label says Fair, which is what it said when I restated WW hours ago. I manually Retrieved Weather and the tray icon label did not change. I recycled Weather Watcher and now everything is in sync.

Beta 10.1 (since it is a minor tweak) coming out tonight to fix that? [:)] </font id=“size2”>

I ttoo get a blank WW window when clicking on any balloon tip. For example I set it to show balloon tip when time observed changed and when clicking on that balloon I get a blank WW window. I can close and immediately open one by left clicking the icon and it is no longer blank. YOu should not need a Sever Alerts balloon to test.

Any balloon should give you a blank window. I get the same blank window when date observed balloon comes up.

Excellent news Jason. That consistency should help Mike a lot.

Thanks. [:)]

Also I have found that when you have the blank WW window (after clicking the tooltip) and you click the sun (current conditions) you get a runtime error 5: invalid procedure call or argument. I have not yet tried clicking on other views (i.e. hourly, forecast, etc.)

I posted in another thread, regarding the Runtime Error 5, but this thread actually makes more sense - EdP is pretty much describing my setup and problems to a T.

Jason, try the Date Observed balloon option with Beta 11. [8D] I was able to consistently get blank windows using your suggestion till Beta 11.

johngalt how’s B11 working for you?

Ed</font id=“blue”></font id=“size2”>

I have installed Beta 11 and everything appears to be working. I have not yet had occasion to test whether or not a blank window opens on a sever weather alert but most likely that is fixed as well. Great job Mike!
