5.6.30 Maps sizes

5.6.30 is not remembering the Maps’ sizes and locations properly. My MapsSize.ww file looks like this:[!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] HEIGHT=8055 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] WIDTH=9765 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] LEFT=4620 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] TOP=1110 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] HEIGHT=8055 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] WIDTH=9765 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] LEFT=4860 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] TOP=900 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] HEIGHT=8280 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] WIDTH=11670 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] LEFT=2925 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] TOP=1485 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] HEIGHT=8175 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] WIDTH=9795 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] LEFT=4800 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] TOP=1305 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] HEIGHT=8085 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] WIDTH=9795 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] LEFT=4830 [!Mine - [AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar] TOP=1665
Yet my maps are named:!Mine¦[AccuWeather] WNY Doppler Radar¦ !Mine¦[AccuWeather] WNY Radar¦ !Mine¦[Intellicast] USA radar¦ !Mine¦[TWC] Interactive WNY Weather Map¦ !Mine¦[Weather Underground] NorthEast Radar¦
and I openned each of them one after the other.

I have the same problem if I open World maps. The top name is repeated regardless of what map I open.

Anyone else seeing this?

Yes, I see the same thing. I’ll take a look and get back to you.

Try the following Weather Watcher build:
http://www.box.net/shared/static/z5m8l5fok8.EXE

Thanks Mike. :thumbright:

While you’re in there I think you might want to change the default sizes of the World TWC Animated maps from 900x600 to 640x390 to better match the sizes of most other maps and to show the Layer controls frame in similarly sized windows. 640x480 works for windows without the layers showing.

I’ll check it out.

30B appears to be working, at least if I open and close one map at a time.

If I open multiple maps and close them one by one only the 1st map’s specs are saved but with the last one’s title. :???:

Thanks for the update.

[b]I have been having a problem with the map viewer page remaining blank, even if I clicked refresh it would reload a blank page.

So I downloaded and tried the new build you posted on this thread and THE NEW BUILD SOLVED MY PROBLEM TOO!

[/b]

What version of WW were you using when you were having the problem??

Mike, did you see this? :-s

EdP, try the following Weather Watcher build:
http://www.box.net/shared/static/8e6vfmi8sk.EXE

 Major difference!! Before a heading for each map attribute now only one per set.

Multiple maps open and closed appear to get added ok. However, the new format appears to being added even if the attributes are present using the prior format.

Thanks again for the update. :thumbright:

The prior format is not going to work because the map names contain “[” and “]”, which are used to separate the sections of the INI file. It might be best to just clear out the MapsSize.ww file and start from scratch.

I thought about doing that after I went to bed. However this morning I found editing the “[” and “]” to their new symbols “<¤” and “¤>” works also.

Thanks Mike this looks like it’s perfect. :thumbright:

Would disabling the option to remember the map sizes clear out the file?

Will this format change problem cause problems for others when upgrading? Maybe distributing an empty MapSize.ww file would be a good idea?

A kind of a related question, many of the maps expand or contract based on the size of the window which can distort their view and wording. Not so with the TWC animated ones. A map window option to display the maps in their native size would be very useful imo.

No.

No. There will just be some unused data in that file for anyone who had that feature enabled prior to this change.

If I tell the installer to overwrite the existing MapsSize.ww file, then that will happen on every install – clearing out any settings from the previous Weather Watcher install.

This should only be true for the Flash TWC maps. Rather than creating a new Weather Watcher option, it might just make more sense to default to the Flash image size if no size is found in the MapsSize.ww file. What do you think about that idea?

Just the opposite.

Rather than creating a new Weather Watcher option, it might just make more sense to default to the Flash image size if no size is found in the MapsSize.ww file. What do you think about that idea?

It would work but be inconvenient. And I’m not suggesting a WW Option, rather a Map Viewer option, like Refresh and Print. How about a Viewer option named Restart or Redo that effectively disregards the Mapsize file’s settings if present and shows the map in it’s pristine form?

Shouldn’t this be added to the Weather Watcher Unofficial & Old Releases forum?
