Runtime Error 50003

You can fix this problem by reinstalling the Visual Basic 6.0 Runtime components that are used by Weather Watcher. You can download them from the link below.

Hello,
I followed the instructions… yet I still get the runtime error 50003: this is with vb 6.0 runtime components AND WW 5.6 Beta 2 installed.

Try reinstalling the Weather Watcher beta update from:
http://www.SingersCreations.com/WW56BetaUpdate.exe

I tried re-installing.
Still, as soon as I click options, it crashes with that error message.
The comctl32.ocx file version is 6.0.81.5

I’m working on the problem. I was able to duplicate the problem using Windows 98. Is anyone having this problem with Windows 2000/XP?

Hi Mike,
I have Windows XP Pro SP2 with all the patches and I’m having this problem.

Do you have the file ASYCFILT.DLL on your computer somewhere? Do a search and let me know where you find it.

Hi Mike,
Yes, I do have that file in several different folders.
Here are the details:
1- C:\WINDOWS$NtServicePackUninstall$
Size: 76.0 KB (77,824 bytes)
Version: 3.50.5014.0

2- C:\WINDOWS\system32
Size: 63.5 KB (65,024 bytes)
Version: 5.1.2600.2180

3- C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
Size: 63.5 KB (65,024 bytes)
Version: 5.1.2600.2180

4- C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache
Size: 63.5 KB (65,024 bytes)
Version: 5.1.2600.2180

5- C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\XIII\Support\register\register\dll
Size: 144 KB (147,728 bytes)
Version: 2.40.4275.1
Description: Microsoft OLE 2.40 for Windows NT™ and Windows
95™ Operating Systems

6- C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\369\CSI-Dark
Motives\Support\Register\register\dll
Size: 144 KB (147,728 bytes)
Version: 2.40.4275.1
Description: Microsoft OLE 2.40 for Windows NT™ and Windows
95™ Operating Systems

As you can see, the last two are very different from the first 2: Number 5 is the game called XIII and number 6 is the game called CSI: Dark Motives.

Hope it helps.

I put together a new WW.EXE file that might fix this problem. You can download it from the following URL:

http://www.SingersCreations.com/Files/ww.exe

(download it to "C:\Program Files\Weather Watcher)

Please e-mail me at [email protected] and let me know if it works or not.

I am also having this problem… have tried all of the previous suggestions and nothing has worked. I have Win XP.

margieh - Postino and I are working on this. I’ll post the solution here when we figure it out.

Hi Mike, it’s been a while! I too am getting the 50003 error. I am on Win2K and had been playing with my “Default Browser” settings ( I use Maxthon - formerly MyIE2.) Yesterday, I started getting a server error and WW would not update. I un-installed WW and re-installed v.5.6-beta 2. Now, it won’t let me set any options without getting the 50003 error. I also tried all of the “fixes” you listed above. Any ideas yet? WW has quit on me on the only snow day of the year here in Dallas!

No. I’m going to do some testing over the weekend.

Thanks, Mike! As you were replying to this, I went back to v.5.6b and did a clean install. It is working again for me now. I will wait on a new version before I try to upgrade again.
