IE 7.0 BETA 2 - TURNS WW NONFUNCTIONAL

Wow!!!

Any way of downloading just the wtp instead of a whole install?

BTW Your installer seems to be using a file called c:\gendel32.exe.

I just installed it and it fixed my problem. Everything else is working fine for me as well [:D]

Huh?

Interesting fix.

Thank you for the link. [:)]

FWIW The fix solves the problem for the thermometer and barometer images in Netscape and Firefox 1.0 also. The page still doesn’t display the weather images located in the WW folder rather than downloaded from weather.com in these browsers but that is beyond the design specs.

According to Norton’s CleanSweep when WWinstaller ran the last time for 5.6.6 it created/loaded a file to the c:\ drive called gendel32.exe. When the install was finished the file disappeared.

I have never heard of that file. Perhaps it is used internally by the installer.

I tested the following Weather Watcher 5.6.6 build using IE 7: [http://www.singerscreations.com/files/i ... Wsetup.exe](http://www.singerscreations.com/files/ie7fix/WWsetup.exe)

If you try it, please post your results here.

That fixes it. Thanks!

I upgraded Weather Watcher to version 5.6.6. After that the barometer graphic was not visible. I am using IE 7.0. The replacement Current.wtp file above fixed the problem. Thanks.

Greg

Got the same problems with IE (but I thought it was going on before I tried out Beta 2??) — no bottom part of the thermometer and no barometer. Added the “current.wpt” file as instructed and no change. Thought it might be a Java thing and re-installed, still no go. Still like the program but miss the barometer – I use it to check my “arthur” condition! Noticed that when I run the mouse over the blank barometer, part of the center reading number will pop up but not always the same part. The same goes for the temp, the number may come up but not the graphic. Sometimes I’ve got to click on it to have it come up. Hope this helps.

Make sure you have Javascript enabled for IE.

Weather Watcher doesn’t use Java.

Having downloaded IE7 Beta I also find that WW is not displaying the bottom half of the thermometer or the barometer display. Other than that I can find no problem.
Many thanks - Jeff in UK

Are you using the ie7fix replacement Current.wtp file with WW?

Described here:
http://www.singerscreations.com/RSS/Posts/302.asp

Ed</font id=“blue”></font id=“size2”>

I installed the ie7 fix but the temperature still doesn’t show and the barometer doesn’t, either (the balloon tip does, however, when the cursor is held in that area).

Ad-aware Pro claims Weather Watcher adds a tracking cookie…

Make sure JScripting is enabled and that your firewall/av/as isn’t stopping it from executing.

WW uses a cookie in support of the therometer options and the day/hour/moon tabs. Configure Adaware to exclude checking for them.
